Softball Recap: Lake Triumphs

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Lake ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Bay Springs Bulldogs 12-10. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

Daelyn Earls spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Alyssa Sockey was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Amaure'I Jones, who scored two runs while going 2-for-6.

Lake's victory bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Bay Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Looking ahead, Lake will face off against Kosciusko at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. We've got a battle between Bulldogs coming up.
