Baseball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Mid Valley's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Mid Valley won the last time they faced Honesdale and things went their way on Monday too. The Spartans' pitchers stepped up to hand the Hornets a 6-0 shutout. Considering the Spartans have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Anthony Balashaitis was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April.

Mid Valley is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Honesdale, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12.

Mid Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Honesdale, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Elk Lake at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so the Hornets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
