Volleyball Game Preview: Crownpoint Eagles vs. Zuni Thunderbirds

The Crownpoint Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Zuni Thunderbirds at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Crownpoint is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Tohatchi just ended the team's five-match winning streak on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to the Cougars.

The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-10, 25-19.

Meanwhile, Zuni hadn't done well against Navajo Prep recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Thunderbirds skirted past the Eagles 3-2. The game was the first time the Thunderbirds have beaten the Eagles on their court since September 28, 2021.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Zuni got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 18-25, 25-22, 24-26, 15-8.

Crownpoint's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Zuni, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season.

Crownpoint skirted past Zuni 3-2 when the teams last played on October 9th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
