Baseball Recap: Greater Nanticoke Area Comes Up Short

Monday just wasn't the day for Greater Nanticoke Area's offense. They came up short against the Wyoming Valley West Spartans on Monday, falling 11-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 5-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Greater Nanticoke Area is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7. As for Wyoming Valley West, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Greater Nanticoke Area will be playing in front of their home fans against Berwick at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.57 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Wyoming Valley West, they will venture away from home to square off against Hazleton Area at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season.
