The Fort Atkinson Blackhawks will head out on the road to square off against the Stoughton Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Atkinson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Fort Atkinson had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Deerfield on Thursday. The Blackhawks blew past the Demons 11-1.
Fort Atkinson got a great performance from Leah Fehrman as she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Fehrman has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Mia Bilau was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Tianna Kostroski was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Fort Atkinson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 7-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Stoughton hadn't done well against DeForest recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Vikings skirted past the Norskies 4-3.
Madelyn Barsness spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on two hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Stoughton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Millie Vinson, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Fort Atkinson's record is now 8-14. As for Stoughton, their record now sits at 19-4.
Fort Atkinson might still be hurting after the 10-3 loss they got from Stoughton when the teams last played back in April. Can the Blackhawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
