Softball Game Preview: Southwest Legacy Titans vs. Southside Cardinals

The Southwest Legacy Titans will face off against the Southside Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Southwest Legacy is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

On Tuesday, Southwest Legacy came up short against Jay and fell 8-4.

Southwest Legacy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Puente, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. Dulce Tovar also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, everything went Southside's way against Winn on Tuesday as Southside made off with a 12-6 victory. Considering the Cardinals have won six games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Jadelynn Uriegas, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Valeria Sanchez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

The win made it two in a row for Southside and bumps their season record up to 11-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Southwest Legacy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Southwest Legacy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Southside struggles in that department as they've averaged .377. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Southwest Legacy couldn't quite get it done against Southside when the teams last played back in February as they fell 11-7. Can Southwest Legacy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
