Football Recap: Andrew Workman and Dawson Judd Pace Benson Defense

After flying high against Desert Christian last Friday, Benson came back down to earth. The Bobcats fell 26-17 to the Willcox Cowboys on Friday. The Bobcats haven't had much luck with the Cowboys recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Although Benson took the loss, they still got scores from Wayne Stark and Andrew Workman.

Benson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Workman and Dawson Judd.

Kaleb Cooke continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Willcox, rushing for 116 yards and one touchdown on only 13 carries. Cooke also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making five total tackles.

Benson's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-4. As for Willcox, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-1.

Benson has already played their next matchup, a 56-6 victory against Palo Verde on the 24th. As for Willcox, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 42-14 loss against Tanque Verde on the 24th.
