Basketball Recap: Red Oak Comes Up Short

Red Oak lost against Wakeland back in November and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Red Oak Hawks took a 60-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wakeland Wolverines. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 159th, while the Wolverines are ranked 23rd).

Red Oak has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Wakeland, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Red Oak will take on Ennis at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Red Oak is facing Ennis at the right time seeing as Ennis is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Wakeland, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Marion at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Wakeland knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Marion likes a good challenge.
