Volleyball Game Preview: Northwest Lions vs. Riverview Gardens Rams

The Northwest Lions will square off against the Riverview Gardens Rams at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Riverview Gardens took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Northwest, who comes in off a win.

While Northwest's victory against Clayton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lions won by a set and slipped past the Greyhounds 3-2.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (105-103) Northwest actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 19-25, 18-25, 25-18, 15-13.

Meanwhile, Riverview Gardens was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to Parkway South.

The final score came out to 25-3, 25-4, 25-8.

Northwest's win ended a three-match drought on the road and puts them at 13-15-5. As for Riverview Gardens, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Everything went Northwest's way against Riverview Gardens when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as Northwest made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
