Basketball Recap: Winona Comes Up Short

Winona extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 5-13. They were outmatched by the Owatonna Huskies and fell 104-29. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 53-26 back in December of 2025.

As for Owatonna, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points over those games.

Owatonna's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addi Langlois, who shot 77% from the field on her way to 21 points and four steals. Those 77% field goal percentage gave Langlois a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jersey Coleman, who went 7-for-9 en route to 15 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds.

Looking ahead, Winona will take on Mayo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Winhawks will need to watch out since the Spartans have now posted at least 55 points in their last 21 contests. As for Owatonna, they are taking a road trip to face off against Albert Lea at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
