Preview: Butler Bulldogs vs. Waldwick/Midland Park Warriors

After two games on the road, Butler is heading back home. They will take on The Waldwick/Midland Park Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Butler's game was all tied up 13-13 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 27-20 win over Glen Rock. Given Butler's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 104th, while Glen Rock is ranked 226th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Butler's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kyle Perry, who rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Bobby Battipede, who rushed for 87 yards.

Meanwhile, Waldwick/Midland Park had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Pompton Lakes 35-7 at home. The result was nothing new for Waldwick/Midland Park, who have now won five contests by 22 points or more so far this season.

Butler's victory was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 6-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.0 points per game. Waldwick/Midland Park has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in six of their first seven contests, giving them a 6-1 record.
