Baseball Game Preview: Licking Wildcats vs. St. James Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Licking Wildcats challenge St. James Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Tuesday, Licking didn't have quite enough to beat Stockton and fell 7-6. The loss put an end to the Wildcats' undefeated start to the season.

Meanwhile, St. James was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Boonville.

Charles McCormick was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Jesse Hudson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

St. James' loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Licking, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Licking took their win against St. James in their previous matchup back in March of 2022 by a conclusive 17-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Licking since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
