The Oak Glen Golden Bears will face off against the Indian Creek Redskins at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Oak Glen has three straight victories, Indian Creek has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Oak Glen's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Friday's struggle, when Millville hitters got past them. The Golden Bears beat the Thunderbolts on Friday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 13-10.
Danica Holden was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Holden was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 matches.
In other batting news, Addie Smith and Marleah Lough did most of the damage at the plate: Smith went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Lough went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Smith has posted over her last 11 games. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Bruce, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Oak Glen hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Millville struck out ten times.
Meanwhile, Indian Creek came up short against Harrison Central on Monday, falling 12-4.
Emma Vok made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
Indian Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Oak Glen, their win bumped their record up to 19-8.
Oak Glen beat Indian Creek 8-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Golden Bears repeat their success, or do the Redskins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
