Basketball Game Preview: Rothsay Tigers vs. Breckenridge Cowboys

The Rothsay Tigers will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Breckenridge Cowboys at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Rothsay has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight losses, while Breckenridge will come in with four straight victories.

Rothsay might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 56-47 to Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 286th, while the Titans are ranked 56th).

While Breckenridge didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-26), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Underwood 71-44. The Cowboys have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 25 points or more this season.

Rothsay's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Breckenridge, their win ended a 13-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 6-4.
