Preview: Wimberley Texans vs. Ingleside Mustangs
Two dominant signal callers in Cody Stoever and Aidan Jakobsohn are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Wimberley Texans are on the road again on Friday and play against the Ingleside Mustangs at 2:00 p.m. on November 24th. Wimberley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 matchups -- so hopefully Ingleside likes a good challenge.
Wimberley had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They claimed a resounding 49-7 victory over Orange Grove on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-0.
It was another big night for Stoever, who threw for 294 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes, and also rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Stoever has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Chase Carson also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Ingleside can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They breezed by Bandera on the road to the tune of 63-33. That's two games straight that Ingleside has won by exactly 30 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ingleside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jakobsohn, who threw for 319 yards and six touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Javier Solis iii also helped out as he racked up 113 receiving yards.
Their wins bumped Wimberley to 12-0 and Ingleside to 11-1.
Everything came up roses for Wimberley against Ingleside when the teams last played back in November of 2021 as the team secured a 66-0 win. Does Wimberley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ingleside turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
