Baseball Game Preview: Northgate Flames vs. Brentwood Spartans

Northgate hasn't had much luck against Brentwood recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Flames will be playing in front of their home fans against the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Northgate lost 14-2 to New Brighton on Wednesday. That's two games in a row now that the Flames have lost by exactly 12 runs.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Brentwood's offense. They came up short against Serra Catholic on Wednesday, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Spartans' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

This is the second loss in a row for Northgate and nudges their season record down to 4-10. As for Brentwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

Northgate suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Brentwood when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Flames avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
