Baseball Preview: Carlsbad Lancers vs. El Camino Wildcats
The Carlsbad Lancers will challenge the El Camino Wildcats at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The last three games Carlsbad has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Carlsbad saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They fell just short of Sage Creek by a score of 12-11. That's two games in a row now that the Lancers have lost by just one run.
Ayden Mu?oz and Liam Stigers did some serious damage despite the final result: Mu?oz scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3, while Stigers went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those stolen bases were Mu?oz's first of the season. Rob Bering was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
Even though they lost, Carlsbad always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.
El Camino not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 27, 2024. They put the hurt on Mission Vista with a sharp 17-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with Mission Vista: they've now won three in a row.
Kaden Zimmerman looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, El Camino got a massive performance out of Ethan Stelzer, who went 2-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Stelzer has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Saldivar, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4.
Carlsbad's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for El Camino, their record is now 2-0.
