Baseball Game Preview: Centennial Broncos vs. Seward Bluejays

The Centennial Broncos will venture away from home to square off against the Seward Bluejays at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Centennial comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Things were looking good for Centennial after they put the first runs on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Fairbury by a score of 11-10. On the bright side, the ten- run effort marked the Broncos' highest-scoring game to date.

Meanwhile, Seward fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Hastings on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 4-3.

Seward saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyle Riley, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Riley also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Seward's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-5. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.33 runs. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Centennial suffered a grim 16-0 defeat to Seward in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Broncos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
