Towanda and Athens are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Black Knights will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Towanda put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They blew past Canton, posting a 41-14 victory. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since September 3, 2021, but that streak is no more.

Meanwhile, Athens beat Wellsboro 35-22 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Towanda better keep an eye on Karson Sipley. He was instrumental in Athens' win, rushing for 116 yards and four TDs.

Athens was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 316 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Athens didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Connor Garrison, Sipley, and Lucas Persun picked up one apiece.

Athens' win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Towanda, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Everything went Towanda's way against Athens in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Towanda made off with a 34-13 win. In that matchup, the Black Knights amassed a halftime lead of 27-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
