Basketball Recap: Winston-Salem Prep Comes Up Short

Winston-Salem Prep lost against Bishop McGuinness last Monday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Winston-Salem Prep Phoenix lost to the Bishop McGuinness Villains at home by a 62-47 margin.

Despite the loss, Winston-Salem Prep still got an impressive performance from Ahmir Wiggins, who went 11 of 16 en route to 22 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Wiggins a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Covington, who posted eight points.

Winston-Salem Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 16-4. As for Bishop McGuinness, they pushed their record up to 19-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Winston-Salem Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 78-61 loss against Mount Tabor on the 8th. As for Bishop McGuinness, they will be playing in front of their home fans against College Prep & Leadership Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. College Prep & Leadership Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten games -- so hopefully Bishop McGuinness likes a good challenge.
