Gaston Day suffers fourth straight loss on the road

Recap: Gaston Day Spartans vs. Kings Mountain Mountaineers

After flying high against the Ballou Knights on Wednesday, the Gaston Day Spartans came back down to earth. Gaston Day fell 86-79 to Kings Mountain on Thursday. Gaston Day was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Kings Mountain apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.

Gaston Day lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Deshawn Coulter, who scored 26 points. Kurt Hunter was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.

Kings Mountain's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bradley Floyd, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. The contest was Floyd's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kee'donn Linney, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds.

Gaston Day bumped their record down to 10-7 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Kings Mountain, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.

Gaston Day won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against East Rutherford at 6:00 p.m. on December 29th. East Rutherford will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 241st, while Gaston Day is ranked 102nd). Kings Mountain won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Providence Day at 7:30 p.m. on December 29th.
