Recap: Mead Mavericks vs. Legacy Lightning
The Mead Mavericks won the last time they faced the Legacy Lightning, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Mead came out on top against Legacy by a score of 50-38. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Mead.
Mead found their leader in underclassman Elena Gomez, who scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gianna Wurth, who scored 8 points.
Despite the loss, Legacy still got an impressive performance from Olivia Mortensen, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 17 rebounds. Mortensen scored a full 73.7% of Legacy's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Mead now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Legacy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Mead will be playing in front of their home fans against Green Mountain at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Green Mountain is ranked 53rd, while Mead is ranked 38th). As for Legacy, they will take on Platte Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
