Softball Recap: George County Takes a Loss

George County suffered their closest loss since April 5, 2025 on Friday. They fell just short of the South Panola Tigers by a score of 5-3. The Rebels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Addison Davis was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Braylee Bishop and Blakley Slay did some serious damage despite the final result: Bishop got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one double, while Slay went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That double marked the first that Bishop has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aryana Dixon, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

George County now has a losing record of 2-3. As for South Panola, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. George County will host East Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Panola, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Pass Christian at 11:20 a.m. The Pirates' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
