The Walkertown Wolfpack will head out to square off against the West Brunswick Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are still undefeated (Walkertown has five wins , while West Brunswick has four).
Last Thursday, Walkertown earned an 8-3 victory over Glenn.
Macy Miller made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Miller wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Graves, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base was Graves' first of the season.
While West Brunswick didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victor by a 17-2 margin over Clinton on Friday. The match marked the Trojans' most dominant win of the season so far.
Like Walkertown, West Brunswick also got a great game from a two-way player: Olivia Brown. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Brown was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Brooklyn Somers and Kady Long did most of the damage at the plate: Somers went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs, while Long went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Grace Hutzell was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
West Brunswick's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Walkertown, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
Walkertown couldn't quite finish off West Brunswick in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can Walkertown avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
