Softball Recap: East Gaston Warriors vs. Cherryville Ironmen
After flying high against Highland Tech back in March, East Gaston came back down to earth. The East Gaston Warriors took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cherryville Ironmen on Tuesday. East Gaston has not had much luck with Cherryville recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Jordan McCorkle made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Carson Summey was another key contributor, going 1-for-4 with a triple, two RBI, and a run.
On Cherryville's side, Emma Proctor was incredible, going 1-for-4 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Bryant, who scored a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
East Gaston's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Cherryville, their win bumped their record up to 11-2.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: they beat East Gaston by a score of 11-8.
