Softball Recap: Lower Merion Takes a Loss

Lower Merion fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Upper Darby on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Royals by a score of 4-3. The Aces just can't catch a break and have now endured five losses in a row.

Charli Sweeney spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Hannah Davis was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Lower Merion's defeat dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Upper Darby, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Lower Merion will take on Haverford at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Upper Darby, they will face off against Chichester at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
