Recap: Eaglecrest Raptors vs. Smoky Hill Buffaloes
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cherry Creek, The Eaglecrest Raptors were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Smoky Hill 55-14 at home. The result was nothing new for Eaglecrest, who have now won six matches by 23 points or more so far this season.
Eaglecrest's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joe Steiner led the charge by throwing for 282 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt. Xavier Waldron was another key contributor, gaining 87 total yards and two touchdowns.
Eaglecrest's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Smoky Hill, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eaglecrest will challenge Arapahoe at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Arapahoe is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games. As for Smoky Hill, they will head out on the road to face off against Cherokee Trail at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cherokee Trail is on a three-game streak of home losses, Smoky Hill a seven-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change.
