The Mortimer Jordan Blue Devils will head out on the road to take on the Orange Beach Makos at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Mortimer Jordan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

On Friday, Mortimer Jordan didn't have quite enough to beat Gulf Shores and fell 11-10.

Mortimer Jordan saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tanner Rice, who scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Orange Beach fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Arab last Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 8-7. One positive for the Makos, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Joel Chandler made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Brayden Hood also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Mortimer Jordan's record is now 11-11. As for Orange Beach, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-5.
