Basketball Recap: Da'varriea Robertson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Edgewood over Space Coast

If Edgewood was riding high fresh off their 55-23 takedown of Merritt Island last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Edgewood Red Wolves took a hard 53-37 fall against the Space Coast Vipers on Tuesday. The Red Wolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vipers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Edgewood lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Da'Varriea Robertson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 19 rebounds. Robertson is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down 12 or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Janae Mcfall, who posted eight points and five steals.

Even though they lost, Edgewood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Space Coast's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lashiya Walker, who earned 20 points. Phillayjah Carroll was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Edgewood has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season. As for Space Coast, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5.

Edgewood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 28-25 loss against Titusville on the 16th. As for Space Coast, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 75-20 defeat against New Smyrna Beach on the 15th.
