Baseball Recap: Sharyland Rattlers vs. McAllen Memorial Mustangs
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sharyland). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the McAllen Memorial Mustangs a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-0 last Tuesday.
Fabrizio Salinas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Salinas was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.
In other pitching news, Roy Rodriguez looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Sharyland let Santiago Soto and Nic Valdez run wild. Soto scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Valdez got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That's the most runs Soto has posted since back in March of 2024. Luis Balderas also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
