Volleyball Recap: Mira Costa Falls Short Against Ranked Redondo Union

Mira Costa faced Redondo Union in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Mustangs took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sea Hawks. The Mustangs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Sea Hawks earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Mira Costa started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 16-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-17.

Audrey Flanagan paced Mira Costa's offense, picking up 23 kills. Flanagan got some help from Milly McGee and her 43 assists. McGee was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Mira Costa's loss ended a three-match streak of away wins and brought them to 23-9. As for Redondo Union, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-6 record this season.

As of now, neither Mira Costa nor Redondo Union have any future games scheduled.
