Baseball Game Preview: Maywood CES Wolfpack vs. Norwalk Lancers

The Maywood CES Wolfpack will venture away from home to square off against the Norwalk Lancers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Norwalk took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Maywood CES, who comes in off a win.

Maywood CES is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 30-0 margin over Collins Family on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Brian Aguirre got the start for Maywood CES and what a start it was: he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Aguirre also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Wolfpack are 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Norwalk was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 2-1 to Paramount, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Norwalk saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Pelayo, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that Pelayo has snagged this season.

The win got Maywood CES back to even at 6-6. As for Norwalk, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Norwalk's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Maywood CES has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game.
