Basketball Recap: Dimmitt Comes Up Short

Dimmitt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 49-48 heartbreaker at the hands of the Friona Chieftans. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 50-45 back in December of 2024.

Dimmitt's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Friona, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-11.

Dimmitt and Friona could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Dimmitt (ranked 572nd) will meet Slaton (ranked 284th) at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Friona will take on Littlefield at 6:15 p.m. on Friday down 381 places (562 vs. 181).
