Softball Recap: Ludington Orioles vs. Hart Pirates
Ludington had lost 17 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 1-11 to make it 18. They lost 18-2 to the Hart Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-6 on Monday.
As for Hart, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-3. Considering they have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
For Hart's part, Kelsey Copenhaver was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Copenhaver a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caydence Bateson, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Coming up, Ludington is taking a road trip to take on Fremont at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Orioles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Packers have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Hart, they will take on North Muskegon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
