Baseball Game Preview: Grandview Wolves vs. Eaglecrest Raptors

For the second straight game, Grandview will face off against Eaglecrest. The Wolves will square off against the Raptors at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Grandview beat Eaglecrest 4-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolves.

Grandview gave Logan Hurtado the start and clearly made the right call: he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Hurtado is becoming a predictor of the Wolves' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Jackson Bernosky picked up the save, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Kayden Bohmeyer was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Matthew Schimberg, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

The victory was their first at home, bumping their record up to 5-6. As for Eaglecrest, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
