Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Denison). They claimed a resounding 48-0 victory over the Memorial Warriors at home. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Yellow Jackets as it put an end to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Denison to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaylen Butler, who rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Thomas Rendon was another key player, rushing for 78 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.
Denison didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Alex Camacho led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Trace Olsen is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made ten or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Grayson McGehee was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 14 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Denison's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Memorial, their loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.
Coincidentally, both will both be playing Liberty the next time they take the field. Denison will head out to face Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Memorial will host them at 7:00 p.m. on October 24th.
