Basketball Recap: North Platte Comes Up Short

North Platte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against the McCook Bison, falling 78-44. The Bulldogs lost against the Bison in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 66-64 score last time.

Despite the loss, North Platte saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jake Kinkaid went 5 of 12 en route to 11 points and eight boards. Tommy Hagert also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

North Platte's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for McCook, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4.

North Platte has already played their next matchup, a 58-49 loss against York on the 25th. As for McCook, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Ogallala at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th.
