Basketball Recap: Preston Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Preston had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They secured a 63-58 W over the Lewis County Minutemen on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Knights also won the last time the pair played back in January.

Aidan Schmidl was a one-man wrecking crew for Preston as he went 11 for 19 on his way to 30 points and six rebounds. Those 30 points gave Schmidl a new career-high. Kaden Bachtel was another key player, putting up 17 points and five rebounds.

Preston wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 52-49 win against Riverside on the 14th. Lewis County and Robert C. Byrd will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
