Newton County Academy dropped their record down to 13-11 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Lamar Christian Lions, falling 6-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Generals have suffered since March 16, 2024.

As for Lamar Christian, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

For Lamar Christian's part, not much got past Blade Davenport, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Newton County Academy off the board. Davenport has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
