Soccer Game Preview: Midlothian vs. Atlee

The Midlothian Trojans will head out to face off against the Atlee Raiders at 7:45 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Atlee better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Midlothian's game on Thursday is any indication, that's when Midlothian really gets things going. The Trojans' defense stepped up to hand Clover Hill a 3-0 shutout. Midlothian haven't had any issues with Clover Hill recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Atlee came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Patriots 8-0. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Atlee's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while Patrick Henry are ranked 171st).

Atlee's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three matches. As for Midlothian, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.

Midlothian couldn't quite get it done against Atlee in their previous matchup back in March of 2017 as they fell 4-2. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
