Volleyball Recap: Boerne-Champion's Run of Six Straight Wins Now Over

It was a good run, but Boerne-Champion unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-match winning streak on Friday. They lost 3-0 to the Pieper Warriors. Considering the last time the Chargers couldn't score was back in September, the team can't take the result too hard.

Boerne-Champion was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Pieper work for it, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-17, 26-24, 25-18.

Brielle Boothe paced Boerne-Champion's offense, picking up 11 kills. Boothe got some help from Brady Cooksey and her 19 assists. Finally, Taylor Fenton kept Boerne-Champion's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Leading Pieper to victory were Cayleigh Monson and Addi Reus. Monson had 15 digs and two aces, while Reus had 17 digs. That's the most digs Reus has posted since back in August.

Boerne-Champion's defeat dropped their record down to 25-6. As for Pieper, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 30-10 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Boerne-Champion will square off against rival New Braunfels at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Pieper is set to challenge their familiar foe Alamo Heights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
