Waverly came tearing into Thursday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 35-33 victory over the Wahoo Warriors. The 35-point effort marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Wahoo lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Gretchen Seagren, who posted ten points in addition to seven rebounds and four blocks. Seagren has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last 11 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracey Fairbanks, who had eight points along with five boards and three steals.

Waverly's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.2 points per game. As for Wahoo, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-7.

Waverly won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Standing Bear at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Waverly is facing Standing Bear at the right time seeing as Standing Bear is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Wahoo, they will take on Platteview at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
