Softball Game Preview: Perrydale Pirates vs. Colton Vikings

The Perrydale Pirates will square off against the Colton Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Perrydale will be strutting in after a win while Colton will be coming in after a loss.

Perrydale took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 15-9 margin over Kennedy. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

Perrydale got a massive performance out of Sophie Jackson, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Madison Barcroft was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

Perrydale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .541. Their batting average was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .400 that Kennedy posted.

Meanwhile, Colton lost 16-1 to Salem Academy on Friday. The Vikings have struggled against the Crusaders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Colton's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5-1. As for Perrydale, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Perrydale hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .418. However, it's not like Colton struggles in that department as they've averaged .318. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Everything went Perrydale's way against Colton in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Perrydale made off with a 19-7 win. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
