Football Game Preview: Highland Huskies vs. Centauri Falcons

The Highland Huskies will challenge the Centauri Falcons at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Highland is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They snuck past Forge Christian with a 41-35 victory.

Elijah Elder and Tyler Varra were among the main playmakers for Highland as the former gained 157 total yards and the latter threw for 139 yards and three TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes. Varra's passing game has become a key predictor of the Huskies' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise.

Highland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 273 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September.

Meanwhile, Centauri entered their tilt with North Fork on Saturday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They enjoyed a cozy 35-21 win over the Miners. The Falcons pushed the score to 32-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Miners cut but never quite recovered from.

Highland better keep an eye on Sean Jarvies. He was instrumental in Centauri's win, throwing for 146 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also punching in two scores on the ground. That's the most rushing touchdowns Jarvies has posted since back in September of 2024.

Highland's record is now 7-3. As for Centauri, their record now sits at 9-1.

Saturday's game might be decided on the ground. Highland has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 189.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Centauri struggles in that department as they've been averaging 170.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
