Basketball Game Preview: McCook Bison vs. Kearney Catholic Stars

The McCook Bison and the Kearney Catholic Stars will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in McCook's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

McCook's tournament run continued when they took on Ulysses on Saturday. McCook walked away with a 58-50 victory over Ulysses.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kearney Catholic). They breezed by Ravenna to the tune of 65-33 on Tuesday. With that win, the Stars brought their scoring average up to 51 points per game.

McCook better keep an eye on Oliver Sharp. He was instrumental in Kearney Catholic's win, putting up 22 points and eight rebounds. Those 22 points gave Sharp a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Bosshamer, who posted 14 points and three steals.

Kearney Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

The victory got Kearney Catholic back to even at 2-2. As for McCook, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

McCook skirted past Kearney Catholic 47-44 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Does McCook have another victory up their sleeve, or will Kearney Catholic turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
