Softball Recap: Kennard-Dale's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Kennard-Dale came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the York Suburban Trojans a 14-0 shutout. Considering the Rams have won three contests by more than 11 runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Taryn Ashenfelter made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Addie Argiro and Maddie Argiro did most of the damage at the plate: Addie scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Maddie scored three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Addie has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Taylor Rinaudo, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Kennard-Dale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as York Suburban only managed two hits.

Kennard-Dale's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for York Suburban, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kennard-Dale will square off against Dover at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for York Suburban, they will challenge J.P. McCaskey at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
