Basketball Game Preview: Preuss UCSD Tritons vs. Horizon Prep Lions

The Preuss UCSD Tritons will head out on the road to challenge the Horizon Prep Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Preuss UCSD will be strutting in after a win while Horizon Prep will be coming in after a defeat.

Preuss UCSD took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They skirted past Monarch 2-0. The two-point effort marked the Tritons' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, Horizon Prep suffered their biggest loss since February 2, 2024 on Thursday. They were outmatched by San Diego Academy and fell 56-25. The defeat continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now lost four in a row.

Preuss UCSD is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.33 points across that stretch. As for Horizon Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.

Preuss UCSD was dealt a bruising 51-20 defeat at the hands of Horizon Prep in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Preuss UCSD avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
