Basketball Recap: Hagerman Comes Up Short

After flying high against Sun Valley Community last Wednesday, Hagerman came back down to earth. The Hagerman Pirates took a 54-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rockland Bulldogs on Thursday. The Pirates were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Hagerman lost, don't look at Ky Kendall. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. Hagerman is 6-1 when Kendall posts eight or more rebounds, but 5-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Mavencamp, who posted seven points and seven boards.

Hagerman's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Rockland, they pushed their record up to 18-2 with the victory, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Hagerman will challenge Hansen at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hagerman is facing Hansen at the right time seeing as Hansen is stuck on a five-game losing streak. Rockland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
