Basketball Recap: Armwood Hawks vs. Sickles Gryphons
Armwood has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost to the Sickles Gryphons on the road by a 64-45 margin on Friday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-38 back in January.

Several Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaliyah Bandy, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Bandy has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Amaya Richardson, who posted nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Armwood was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.
Sickles got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jadyn Watts out in front who went 12 for 22 en route to 30 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Watts has scored at least a third of Sickles' points. Kelsey Sharpe was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten assists.
Armwood's loss dropped their record down to 16-5. As for Sickles, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.
Armwood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-17 win against Tampa Bay Tech on the 6th. Sickles has also already played their next contest, a 72-22 victory against Largo on the 6th.
