Soccer Game Preview: Sycamore vs. Kaneland

The Sycamore Spartans are taking a road trip to challenge the Kaneland Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Sycamore will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Saturday, then bounced right back against LaSalle-Peru on Monday. The Spartans never let the Cavaliers get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The victory continues a trend for Sycamore in their matchups with LaSalle-Peru: they've now won nine in a row.

Sycamore's offense was hitting LaSalle-Peru from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal. Izzie Segreti led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Kaneland had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 goals) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Hubs. With Kaneland ahead 10-1 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Sycamore pushed their record up to 11-2-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 23 goals over those five matches. As for Kaneland, their win bumped their record up to 12-2-1.
